What is a scort?
Scort (from English words skirt - skirt and shorts - shorts) are a hybrid wardrobe item that visually looks like a skirt, but structurally has shorts.
To accurately define a skort, what it is and what its functionality is, just look at the cut: it's a garment that creates the illusion of a skirt (usually from the front), but provides comfort and freedom of movement thanks to the inner shorts.

This garment was originally developed as part of a sports uniform for tennis, golf, and field hockey. It allowed female athletes to adhere to traditional dress codes without sacrificing physical activity. Over time, the skort transitioned from a strictly athletic wardrobe into everyday fashion. Today, designers adapt this silhouette to suit preppy, casual, and smart-casual styles.
Main types
Modern skorts vary in cut and materials. Designers offer several basic options for different situations:
- Asymmetrical wrap-around. At the front there is an overlap of fabric that imitates a skirt, and at the back the product looks like classic shorts.
- In a fold (tennis). A classic sporty silhouette with circular pleats that completely hide the fitted shorts.
- Costume. Models made of dense fabrics (gabardine, semi-wool) with tucks and creases, suitable for urban style and a relaxed office dress code.
- Denim and leather. Textured everyday options, often finished with raw edges, metal hardware or patch pockets.

What to combine with
Thanks to its hybrid design, the skirt easily integrates into a variety of looks, replacing both traditional miniskirts and shorts.
- Sports style (tennis-core). Pleated tennis shorts look great with a polo shirt, an oversized sweatshirt, high socks, and chunky sneakers.

- Urban smart casual. A straight-cut suit jacket is combined with a voluminous jacket, a basic T-shirt and leather loafers.
- Cool weather. A leather or tweed skort is worn with thick tights, a voluminous knitted sweater and high tube boots.

- Evening or trendy look. A satin skirt or a model with a complex asymmetrical cut is complemented by a cropped top, a strict suit vest and sandals with thin straps.
