What is a long sleeve?
Longsleeve (from English) long sleeve (Long sleeve) is a T-shirt with long sleeves, which is a basic element of everyday wardrobe.

Historically, this garment originated from classic men's underwear, particularly long johns, as well as training sportswear. Over time, the cut was adapted for everyday wear, becoming a universal staple.
The classic model is made from fine knitwear, such as cotton, viscose, or blended fibers. The traditional long sleeve top has a round neckline and no collar, buttons, or patch pockets.
Distinctive features
The main feature of a long sleeve is the neckline. In the traditional version, it has a round ( crew neck ) or V-neck.
The absence of a stand-up collar distinguishes a long sleeve from a turtleneck, and the absence of a turn-down collar with buttons distinguishes it from a polo shirt.

- Sleeve cut: A classic set-in sleeve or raglan sleeve is used. The latter is often found in sports and baseball styles with contrasting sleeves. The sleeve length always reaches the wrist.
- Silhouette: varies from a close-fitting, second-skin effect, to a straight and voluminous oversized cut.
- Texture: For sewing, smooth jersey, textured ribbed knit (noodles) or thermal fabric with a waffle texture are most often used.
What to combine with
As a base layer, fitted or straight long sleeves are worn under structured jackets, heavy cardigans, and sundresses. They also work well in layered looks when paired with heavy flannel or corduroy shirts.

For everyday wear, basic solid-color styles are paired with straight-leg or wide-leg jeans or chinos. In women's wardrobes, they are often complemented with midi skirts made of thick denim or flowing silk.
Sporty and loose long sleeves look great with joggers, leggings, cycling shorts and chunky sneakers.

A sleek long-sleeve top made of thick cotton or viscose in basic shades (white, black, beige) easily integrates into a business wardrobe. Paired with a classic pantsuit, it effectively replaces a formal blouse or shirt.
