What is Barbicor?
Barbicor (Barbiecore) is a fashion aesthetic inspired by the Barbie doll, centered around the use of pink and hyper-feminine wardrobe elements.

The trend gained global popularity in 2022–2023 thanks to the Valentino Pink PP collection, featuring fuchsia pieces, and the release of Greta Gerwig's film "Barbie." This style draws on nostalgia for 1990s and 2000s fashion (the Y2K era), conveying a carefree, playful spirit and a rejection of minimalism in favor of bright, statement pieces.
Distinctive features
The main defining feature of the style is the color palette, dominated by all shades of pink—from neon fuchsia and magenta to pastel bubble gum. These shades are often used to create monochrome looks (total pink).
To achieve the desired effect, glossy, iridescent, and textured materials are used. The collections feature latex, patent leather, sequins, feathers, tulle, and classic pink tweed.

Key silhouettes of the aesthetic include miniskirts, crop tops, bodycon dresses, flared trousers, and fitted jackets. Footwear and accessories also play a key role: shoes and sandals with extremely high platforms and chunky heels, micro-bags, plastic embellishments, rhinestones, heart-shaped details, and bows complete the look.
How to wear
The most straightforward way to embrace the trend is to create a monochrome look by pairing pieces in the same shade of pink. Examples include a fuchsia three-piece pantsuit or a bodycon midi dress paired with pink pumps.

To tone down the brightness, integrate pink elements into your basic wardrobe. A bright pink oversized jacket pairs harmoniously with classic straight-leg blue jeans and a white cotton T-shirt.

To create contrasting looks, color blocking is used, combining pink with other rich hues like neon green, orange, or deep purple. In understated looks, the style is introduced through a single accent piece—for example, a patent pink baguette bag, platform shoes, or pink wide-frame sunglasses.
