What is coquettecore?
Coquette core — is a hyper-feminine aesthetic that celebrates romance, tenderness, and playful vintage femininity. The term is derived from the French word coquette (coquette) and suffix -core , denoting a specific microtrend in fashion.

As a distinct style, coquettecore emerged on social media in the early 2020s. Its development was influenced by the stage personas of singer Lana Del Rey, the visual aesthetics of Regency-era historical dramas, and cinematic interpretations of Marie Antoinette's wardrobe.
The style is based on a reimagining of traditional feminine attributes without sexualizing them. The primary focus is on visual lightness, a nod to vintage silhouettes, and the romanticization of everyday wardrobe.
Distinctive features
The style's color palette is built on soft pastel shades. The looks are dominated by soft pink, off-white, cream, light blue, lavender, and a muted red accent.

Bows, which have become a central symbol of the aesthetic, are prominent in the decoration of garments. Clothing is liberally embellished with lace, tiered ruffles, frills, faux pearls, and satin ribbons. Prints predominantly feature patterns of small wildflowers or hearts.

Key wardrobe elements include tight corsets, silk slip dresses, and pleated mini or midi skirts. These silhouettes are complemented by cropped, fine-knit cardigans and cotton blouses with voluminous puff sleeves or Peter Pan collars. Footwear choices include patent leather Mary Janes with a low heel and classic leather ballet flats. Accessories include high white knee-high socks, lace tights, large hairpins with bows, and delicate pearl chokers.
How to wear
A total look requires maximum immersion in aesthetics. To achieve this, pair a pastel-hued bustier dress with white lace tights, Mary Janes, and long ribbons woven into the hair.
Integration through details allows the trend to be adapted to a basic wardrobe. One or two signature pieces, such as a structured corset top or a semi-sheer ruffled blouse, are paired with classic straight-leg jeans made of heavy denim.

A popular styling technique is to play with contrasts, mixing delicate pieces with rough textures. A silk slip dress with lace trim is paired with a voluminous leather biker jacket, a distressed bomber jacket, and chunky lace-up boots.
Using accent accessories maintains the trend without radically changing your wardrobe. Satin bows are added to bag handles, shoe laces, or secured in hair as pins and clip-on barrettes.
