What is balletcore?
Balletcore — is a fashion aesthetic inspired by the rehearsal clothes and stage costumes of classical ballet dancers.
The trend gained widespread popularity in the early 2020s, combining elements of hyper-femininity, romanticism, and comfortable athleisure. Integrating into everyday wardrobes, balletcore clothing focuses not on literally replicating theatrical costumes, but on adapting ballet uniforms for urban wear.

Distinctive features
Key wardrobe items in this direction include knitted wrap cardigans, cropped boleros, fitted bodysuits, leg warmers, tulle tutus and classic ballet flats.

The color palette is built around a predominance of powdery and pastel shades. Soft pink, cream, white, and light blue are often combined with basic black or dark gray. Materials and textures play a key role. The aesthetic is based on the contrast of smooth, flowing fabrics such as satin, silk, and spandex with voluminous and tactile materials such as tulle, fine knits, and ribbed fabrics.
How to wear
To create a harmonious look, it's enough to incorporate one or two aesthetic elements to avoid looking too much like a theatrical costume. Ribbon ballet flats and form-fitting bodysuits easily integrate into everyday essentials. They pair well with straight-leg jeans, wide-leg trousers, or tailored menswear jackets.

The styling often revolves around a play of contrasts. Delicate tulle skirts and pink cardigans are paired with chunky shoes, voluminous vintage leather jackets, or thick denim.

Knitted leg warmers are used as a statement accessory. They're worn over leggings and sheer nylon tights, or paired with sneakers or loafers.
