What is pavé setting?
Pave setting - is a jewelry technique in which many small precious stones are set close to each other, forming a single sparkling canvas.
The name comes from the French word pavé — “pavement” or “cobblestone”, since the inlaid surface visually resembles a stone-paved road.

To answer the question, what is pavé setting from a technical perspective? It's a setting method in which recesses for stones are drilled into the metal, and tiny metal protrusions (prongs) are formed from the base alloy to hold them in place. This technique is most often used for diamonds, but is also used for sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and cubic zirconia.
Distinctive features and main types
The main visual feature of pavé is the effect of continuous diamond shine, making the metal of the setting virtually invisible.
The classic version uses stones of the same size (usually between 0.01 and 0.02 carats). They are arranged in neat rows or in a honeycomb pattern.

Micro pavé ( micro-pavé ) involves inlaying ultra-fine stones weighing less than 0.01 carats. The work is performed exclusively under a microscope and creates an extremely smooth, almost velvety surface.
French pavé ( French pavé ) is distinguished by the fact that the metal beneath each stone has a V-shaped cutout. This allows light to penetrate from the side, significantly enhancing the sparkle of the facets.

Gradient pavé involves using stones of different shades. The technique is used to create a smooth color transition across the surface of a piece of jewelry.
How to wear and care
In a smart casual wardrobe, simple ring studs or pavé studs pair perfectly with basic shirts, cashmere turtlenecks, and tailored jackets.

In evening looks, large hoop earrings or voluminous cocktail rings serve as statement pieces. They complement minimalist slip dresses in smooth silk or classic tuxedos.
Jewelry with this setting requires careful handling. Due to the minimal amount of metal holding the stones in place, strong mechanical impact can cause them to deform and the setting to fall out.
It is not recommended to clean pavé jewelry in ultrasonic cleaners. For regular cleaning, use only a soft brush and a mild soap solution.
