What is modal?
Modal — is a new generation semi-synthetic viscose fiber obtained from natural wood cellulose.
The raw material used for production is primarily beech wood, with eucalyptus or pine used less frequently. A key feature of the material's creation is the absence of chlorine-containing substances during the processing of the wood pulp. From a technological perspective, modal fabric represents an eco-friendly compromise between natural and synthetic fabrics. It combines the natural origin of the raw material with high-tech chemical spinning.

Distinctive features and types
The material is exceptionally soft, with a tactile feel superior to cotton. The fabric has a smooth texture with a slight silky sheen and is highly hygroscopic, absorbing 50% more moisture than standard cotton counterparts. Garments made from this fiber drape beautifully and form smooth folds.

Modal virtually shrinks after washing and is pilling-free, maintaining a smooth, pill-free surface. The fiber is highly breathable and holds dyes reliably, preventing fading even with prolonged use.
In the textile industry, there are three main types of material:
- 100% modal — a thin, flowing fabric used to create dresses, blouses, and light summer clothing.
- Micromodal — a fabric made of ultra-fine threads, which is used primarily for sewing premium underwear, hosiery, and home wear.
- Blended fabrics — a combination of modal with cotton, wool or elastane to increase the strength, shape retention and elasticity of the finished product.

How to care
For modal items, we recommend washing them on a delicate or hand wash cycle at 30–40°C. It's best to use mild liquid detergents, avoiding powders containing harsh bleaches.

Spin at low speed. Dry items flat or carefully on hangers. When wet, viscose fiber becomes more fragile and can stretch under its own weight.
Iron the fabric at medium temperatures using the "silk" or "viscose" setting. It's best to iron from the reverse side or through a protective cotton cloth to avoid shiny marks on the surface.
