Fairycore — is a fashion aesthetic and clothing style inspired by fairy tales, mythology, nature, and images of forest fairies and elves.
Fairycore style emerged and gained popularity in the early 2020s on social media platforms like Tumblr and TikTok. The movement emerged as a form of visual escapism and reflects a desire for aesthetic communion with nature.
The core concept is built on a combination of vintage romance, casual layering, and floral elements. This combination of textures and silhouettes creates the illusion of a light, slightly chaotic look with whimsical motifs.
Distinctive features of the style
The color palette of the movement features predominantly earthy and pastel natural tones. Mossy green, pale pink, cream, light brown, lavender, and dusty blue predominate in the wardrobe.
Translucent and flowing materials such as tulle, organza, chiffon, and silk are prominently featured in these looks. They are combined with contrasting textures such as chunky knits, dense lace, and crushed cotton.
The signature cut features asymmetrical hems, voluminous puff sleeves, and layered skirts. Slip dresses, corsets, and laced bodices serve as essential elements.
