What is a balconette bra?
Balcony — is a bra style whose design lifts the breasts from below, creating the effect of an open neckline, visually reminiscent of an architectural balcony. The term's name comes from the English word balconette , which reflects the main visual feature of the cut: the chest is supported from below and remains half open at the top.
The key feature of this style is the horizontal neckline. The cups form a nearly straight line, and the straps are positioned as far apart as possible.

Distinctive features
The balconette cups are shorter at the top. They cover only half or three-quarters of the breast, creating a distinctive straight or slightly curved top edge. Unlike classic full-coverage styles, the fabric leaves the upper part of the bust exposed.
The straps in this design are spaced as wide as possible. The attachment points are positioned toward the armpits rather than centered on the cups. This allows for full exposure of the décolletage and collarbone.

Support is provided by a reinforced lower section. The design is based on rigid frames (underwires) and is often complemented by vertical darts on the cups. These elements work together to push the breasts upward and provide secure support.
The center section between the cups (the waist or bridge) is usually made higher and wider. This is necessary to balance the open top and ensure a stable fit.
What to wear with
A balconette bra is ideal for clothing with wide, square (bob), and complex necklines. The wide-set straps allow the bra to remain completely invisible beneath the fabric.

This style pairs beautifully with evening dresses, summer sundresses, and off-the-shoulder tops. For completely off-the-shoulder outfits, balconette styles with removable straps and silicone bands along the inner hem are used.
A balconette bra shouldn't be worn under a deep V-neck. The high bridge between the cups will protrude beyond the neckline and disrupt the aesthetic of the look.

When choosing underwear for fitted knitwear, such as turtlenecks or basic T-shirts, smooth, molded balconettes are preferred. Styles without lace or rough vertical seams will not show through the thin fabric.
