What are pantaloons?
Trousers — is an element of women's underwear that covers the lower part of the torso and the upper part of the thighs, the length of which usually varies from the middle of the thigh to the knee.
Historically, the name derives from Pantalone, a character in the Italian commedia dell'arte who wore long, narrow trousers. In 19th-century women's wardrobes, these trousers featured voluminous, separate legs, fastened at the waist, and heavily decorated with lace and ruffles.
In the modern fashion context, pantaloons have transformed from a voluminous Victorian staple into a utilitarian, smooth, and form-fitting garment. Today, this wardrobe item addresses the challenges of comfort, temperature regulation, and visual silhouette correction.

Main types
Modern lingerie manufacturers produce several functional varieties of panties:
- Corrective (shaping): They are made from dense elastic materials (spandex, nylon, elastane) with special compression zones for shaping the abdominal line, hips and buttocks.
- Protective (against chafing): Thin, breathable, seamless shorts made of microfiber, viscose or silk, designed to protect the inner thighs in hot weather.
- Insulated (thermal underwear): Models made of merino wool, cashmere or cotton with micro-brushing, used in the cold season as a base warming layer.
- Decorative (boudoir): Loose models made of silk, satin or fine cotton with lace trim, used as sleepwear or lounging wear.

How to wear
The choice of a specific model of trousers depends on the type of outerwear and the tasks at hand.
- For bodycon dresses and pencil skirts: Seamless shapewear panties provide a completely smooth silhouette, hiding the contours of underwear and uneven skin.
- In summer looks: Smooth microfiber models are worn under light, flowing dresses, sundresses, and wide linen trousers to prevent chafing of the thighs during long walks.

- In the winter wardrobe: Insulated options are paired with wide-leg pants (palazzo pants, culottes) or long skirts. This base layer provides warmth in the thigh area without adding bulk to the shins.
- Color selection rule: For maximum invisibility under light or translucent clothing, choose pantaloons that exactly match your skin tone (nude), and for dark clothing, choose black ones.
