What are palazzo pants?
Palazzo pants - these are women's loose-fitting trousers, the legs of which flare out from the waistline and remain as wide as possible all the way to the bottom.

The style's name is historically linked to the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Italy. It was there that designer Emilio Pucci introduced this style to the general public in the 1960s. The main visual feature of the palazzo is the smooth, flowing legs that create the illusion of a long, flowing skirt, often referred to as a culotte.
This style has become a firm fixture in women's wardrobes thanks to its ability to seamlessly combine the comfort of loose clothing with the elegance and formality of an evening or business silhouette.
Distinctive features
The design of palazzo trousers has strict geometric and stylistic boundaries that distinguish them from other wide-leg models.

- High waist. The waistband of the trousers sits exactly on the natural waistline, which visually lengthens the legs and elongates the silhouette.
- Architecture of the cut. The flare begins immediately at the waist or upper third of the thigh. This is a fundamental difference between palazzo pants and flared trousers, which flare only from the knee.
- Selection of materials. For proper draping, soft, flowing fabrics are used: silk, chiffon, viscose, and Tencel. More formal designs use materials that hold their shape well but are flexible, such as fine suiting wool or linen.
- Extra length. Classic palazzos are made to the floor, completely or half covering the shoe.
What to combine with
When styling palazzo pants, the main focus is on creating the correct proportions and balancing volumes.
- Balance of volumes. Since the bottom is as wide as possible, it's recommended to keep the top of the outfit fitted or semi-fitted. Turtlenecks, bodysuits, crop tops, and basic fitted tees are ideal for this.

- Multilayered. Over a basic top, you can wear a cropped waist-length jacket or a structured, straight-cut blazer worn open, creating additional vertical lines.
- Business style. Palazzo trousers made from thick suit wool pair seamlessly with a tucked-in cotton shirt and a classic leather belt.

- Shoes. Heels or platforms enhance the illusion of long legs and prevent long pant legs from touching the ground. Flat shoes (loafers, sandals, sneakers) are acceptable for relaxed summer or casual looks, where a slightly casual length is part of the style.
