What is a hoodie?
Hoodie A hoodie is a loose-fitting knit sweater with a hood that slips over the head and has no front closure. The term derives from the English word "hood."

Historically, the garment emerged in the 1930s as a piece of equipment for workers and athletes. The American company Champion first added a hood to a heavy sweater to protect workers in New York City's cold storage warehouses from drafts. Later, this practical garment became part of sportswear, and then became a staple of streetwear and everyday wardrobes.
Distinctive features
The main design feature of the product is the obligatory presence of a voluminous hood. It is often complemented by a built-in drawstring for adjusting the fit. The lack of a front zipper is the main difference between a hoodie and a classic sweatshirt or tracksuit top.

Most traditional models feature a pass-through patch pocket on the belly for warming hands. The traditional material is thick cotton jersey (fleece). Its backing can be either a smooth loop or a warm fleece lining.

The sleeves and hem are finished with elastic cuffs. They are created using a wide knit ribbing (rib knit), which ensures a snug fit, retains warmth, and maintains the garment's distinctive voluminous silhouette.
What to combine with
In an everyday wardrobe, a hoodie is a versatile staple. The most common casual combination includes straight-leg or wide-leg jeans, knit joggers, and chunky sneakers.

To create layered looks with a sporty-chic aesthetic, wear a hoodie under structured outerwear. It looks harmonious when paired with a straight-cut wool coat, a voluminous trench coat, or an oversized menswear-inspired jacket. With this combination, the hood always extends over the collar of the outer layer, creating an additional accent in the portrait area.
A stylistic approach that plays on contrasts allows a sporty piece to be incorporated into feminine ensembles. A voluminous hoodie is paired with flowing silk or satin midi skirts. It's also worn over a lingerie slip dress, finishing the look with chunky leather lace-up boots or minimalist ankle boots.
