What are joggers?
Joggers - These are loose-fitting trousers that taper towards the bottom and are secured at the waist and ankles with elastic bands or cuffs.

This style originated in the 1920s thanks to Émile Camuset, founder of the French brand Le Coq Sportif. Initially, the trousers were designed exclusively for jogging, hence the name.
In the 2010s, joggers expanded beyond athletic wear. Today, they've become a staple of sporty-chic, street style, and everyday casual styles.
Distinctive features
The main feature of joggers is their silhouette. The pants are flared at the hips, allowing for freedom of movement, and gradually taper towards the bottom.

An essential design element is an elastic waistband, often complemented by an adjustable drawstring or cord. The legs are gathered at the ankles with tight elastic cuffs.
Classic sports styles are made from soft cotton jersey (futer). Modern casual interpretations are created from denim, faux leather, nylon, corduroy, and silk. Joggers traditionally feature slit or patch pockets on the sides, while some designs are enhanced with stripes or voluminous cargo pockets on the hips.
What to combine with
The adaptability of the cut allows joggers to be integrated into various stylistic trends, combining them with both sporty and formal items.
- Sport chic. Knit joggers are paired with an oversized hoodie and chunky sneakers. The look is completed with a contrasting top layer—a classic straight coat or a tailored double-breasted trench.
- Everyday casual. Heavy cotton or denim trousers are paired with a basic T-shirt. A cropped denim jacket or bomber jacket is worn as outerwear, and urban sneakers are the footwear of choice.

- Elegant look. Styles made of silk, viscose, or fine faux leather are complemented by a silk blouse or cashmere turtleneck. Sporty bottoms are balanced with heels—pumps or ankle boots.
- Office smart casual. For a more relaxed dress code, consider wearing suiting-fabric joggers with pleats. They pair beautifully with a classic shirt, an oversized jacket, and leather loafers.
