The name is derived from a fusion of British slang words block (guy, ordinary man) and suffix core , denoting a specific aesthetic. Blockcore style is based on the idea of looking like an ordinary fan heading to a match, but with a conscious approach to clothing choices.
The trend gained global popularity in 2022 thanks to social media. It transformed from a local subculture of football casuals into a global street style phenomenon worn regardless of actual interest in the sport.
Distinctive features of the style
A wardrobe staple in this aesthetic is vintage or modern football jerseys. Models featuring club crests, bold geometric patterns, and large sponsor logos from past decades are prized.
For the bottoms, wear straight or wide jeans in classic blue or light blue. Loose sweatpants with contrasting stripes are an alternative.
