What is a satchel bag?
Satchel (from the English satchel - a backpack, a book bag) is a framed women's or men's bag, reminiscent of a classic English school bag in shape and design.
Historically, these models were used by Oxford and Cambridge students to carry heavy books. This contributed to their high strength, capacity, and rigid structure. In today's wardrobe, a satchel is a basic everyday bag that combines the clean, geometric lines of a briefcase with the convenience of a crossbody bag.

Distinctive features
The satchel's design is based on several design elements that distinguish it from other bag models.
- Rigid frame. The bag has a flat, stable bottom and a rectangular or slightly trapezoidal shape that does not deform even when empty.
- Valve design. The main compartment closes with a wide flap. Traditionally, it's secured with two straps with metal buckles, although modern models often use hidden magnetic snaps for convenience.

- Double carrying system. It has a short handle on top for carrying in your hand and a long adjustable strap for wearing on the shoulder or over the shoulder (crossbody).
- Materials. Classic versions are made from thick, smooth leather that holds its shape well, with open or finished tight seams.
What to combine with
The laconic form allows the satchel to be easily integrated into various stylistic directions.
- Preppy style. The style's historical connection to the university environment makes it the perfect complement to pleated skirts, oxford shirts, knitted vests and loafers.

- Smart casual for the office. In a business wardrobe, a satchel harmoniously complements straight trousers with creases, structured jackets, classic trench coats and men's-style shoes (brogues, oxfords).
- Everyday basic wardrobe. Straight-leg jeans, chunky knit turtlenecks, and Chelsea boots paired with a satchel bag create a put-together, comfortable urban look.
- A game of contrasts. The bag's crisp, geometric shape looks stunning against soft, flowing midi dresses or lightweight silk skirts, balancing out the feminine silhouette.
